Late Alpha 3 update!

New build now available on Steam!

From the game’s page in Steam, click on the Cog icon to select Properties, then go to the Updates tab—confirm that you have Build ID 9218709 or higher. You can also launch the game and check its splash screen, which should report as Rev #951.

If it looks like you’re running an older version and the new one doesn’t start downloading after a little while, fully quit Steam then restart it, which should trigger an update check.

FIXED

• If a group’s parent is destroyed, all groups it controlled become neutralized.

• Victory-condition calculations corrected on client and server

• Selecting rival Board Player uses it as attacker; highlights placements on your own board

• Restore DirectX 11 support. To force DX12 support, add the “-dx12” flag through the game’s Steam page under Launch Options.

• Show Neutral Groups as "played" (solid triangle)

• Custom build hover-over text to match a Group's many possible overlapping Type and Type-Attribute icons (think Place, Coastal Place, Huge Nation, Huge Coastal Nation, et al—all the things that make a Place vulnerable to various Disasters)

• Prevent auto-attacking when attacker is out of actions, unless other players are also out of actions or have accepted the odds

• Action Phase button label: “End Turn”=>”End Phase”

• 3DCard: Raise Place to sit above Coastal, matching Preview card

• Switching between 3DCards as targets can leave each previously selected group’s card appear selected

• Corrected North Korea’s Group Type to be Place

• Now showing “Press F-11 to toggle full-screen mode” to splash page

• Saw "No more Actions—end turn" after choosing a group w/ no Action—yet most groups still had their Actions

• Irritating Epic login dialog on first run—We didn’t like it either, and apparently Epic heard everyone. From this version forward, as long as you’re logged into a Steam account, if the account isn’t already associated with an Epic account they simply make a shell account on their end without bothering you to create one.

• Move Rival Tracker triangle row in Dossier footer over to Newsfeed footer, in advance of adding PLOTS!

And more.

FIXED (earlier, missed in release notes)

• As of Sunday 7/24, logs again being generated in the Windows build

• When performing a reorg move involving multiple cards on a client session, a downward connecting line can be left on the former parent placement

IN PROGRESS

- Crash on launch—Resolved 3 out of 4 cases; still working on the 4th. (Disable the Steam Overlay on lower-powered PCs!)

- Network failure on the client’s side (the player who joins a multiplayer game) will end the game, though it can take the server (the player who started the game) to recognize it. For the moment, the most reliable recovery is to quit the application and relaunch both client and server.

- UI interaction targets skewed from visible UI graphics on screen—Made several attempts with partial success; now able to reproduce in-house, so speeding toward a solid solution. Until resolved, we recommend playing in windowed mode (F-11) and resizing to a 16:9 aspect ratio.

- Some group names aren’t word-wrapping on the game board.

- In dossier list and in larger-sized card preview, Group Type icons besides Org appear dimmed.

- Group special abilities which are useful only as direct attacks are not reporting as such, though they are excluded from the TurnTracker widget’s list of overall bonuses and special abilities.

- Now making Linux builds! Not yet distributing them through Steam. Still, this is the first step toward Android builds, which Steam can also distribute.

We are rocking along. Catch us on Discord if you’ve gotten an invite. Soon we’ll be opening Late Alpha to even more of our Kickstarter backers—soon after, we could have something worth showing the world. We’ll see. Thanks for following us this far.
